Entelos integrates the empirical and investigative strengths of biology with the mathematical and
systematic strengths of engineering to advance pharmaceutical research. Entelos’ cross-disciplinary
teams of Ph.D.-level scientists and engineers use its state-of-the-art PhysioLab technology and unique
top-down approach to build PhysioLab platforms and use them to conduct in silico R&D with the
Company’s collaboration partners.
In silico R&D is a rapid and predictive method of investigation that empowers Entelos’
partners to increase efficiency and productivity across the entire drug discovery and development
pipeline, aswell as post-marketing. Using virtual patients and virtual drugs/targets, in silico
R&D simulates experiments in a computer, rapidly testing what would likely take months or years to
do in the laboratory or clinic.
Each PhysioLab platform is specific to a disease, biological process, or therapeutic area. To build
them, Entelos scientists and engineers draw upon thousands of peer-reviewed papers, the expertise of
world-class scientific advisors, and the rigorous methods used in the engineering sciences to design,
test, and build robust dynamic systems. Entelos provides integrated expertise in the areas of
metabolism and cardiovascular function, immunology and inflammation, and respiratory function, and
plans to expand to other disease areas.
As of July 8, 2008, Entelos had 35 issued patents and over 120 pending applications worldwide directed to its PhysioLab software platform technology, the methodologies of applying the PhysioLab technology to drug discovery and development, the PhysioLab models, and the DrugMatrix toxicogenomics technology. In addition, Entelos has filed patents on proprietary biology discovered using its PhysioLab technology.
